From November 9, Kazakhstan will expand its average speed control system. New zones will operate on three republican highways: Almaty – Khorgos, Karaganda – Burylbaytal and Kyzylorda – Aralsk, reports KazAvtoZhol. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

In total, control will be introduced on six sections.

Unlike conventional cameras that record speed at a specific point, the system evaluates movement along the entire section. The complexes register the time a vehicle enters and exits the control zone, after which they calculate the average speed based on distance and time spent.

If the resulting figure exceeds the established limit, information about the violation is transmitted to authorized bodies for further processing.

The system is intended to improve traffic safety, reduce the risk of accidents and improve driver discipline. The company urged motorists to observe the speed limit throughout the highway and take weather and road conditions into account.

Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that average speed control had been introduced on four more highways.
