The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reminded the public of safety rules on water and when handling fire during the fire-hazard period. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The ministry noted that during the swimming season, most accidents on water bodies occur in prohibited and unequipped areas. In this regard, citizens were urged to strictly observe safety rules.
The Ministry reminded that children should not be left unattended near water bodies and should not be allowed to swim without adult supervision. It is also forbidden to swim in places not equipped for this purpose and where signs "Swimming prohibited", "Diving prohibited" or "Danger! Whirlpool" are installed.
In addition, rescuers urged not to enter the water while intoxicated, not to swim beyond the buoys, not to approach small vessels and other watercraft.
The ministry also reminded that it is forbidden to dive in unchecked and unequipped places, to swim on objects not intended for swimming, and to jump into water from boats, motorboats, piers, rocks, cliffs, boulders, parapets, fences and other structures not intended for this purpose.
During the fire-hazard period, the Ministry calls for special attention to sources of fire, including in forest and steppe areas.
Rescuers reminded that it is forbidden to light fires in forests and open areas, to throw burning matches and unextinguished cigarette butts. Also, glassware should not be left in nature, as sunlight passing through glass can focus and ignite dry grass.
If a fire is detected, it is necessary to immediately report it by calling 101 or 112.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a girl born in 2006 and a man born in 2004 drowned in the Kapshagai reservoir in Konayev. According to the Department of Emergency Situations, they were swimming in an unequipped area near the "Dzhasa" recreation area.
