The number of civil disputes in Kazakhstan has surged sharply. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Finprom.kz.
According to the data from the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records of the Prosecutor General's Office, in the first half of this year, Kazakhstani citizens, various legal entities and companies filed nearly 506,100 civil claims. This is significantly more compared to January-June of the previous year.
Compared to the indicators over the past ten years, the number of people going to court this year has reached a record level.
Almaty leads
Almaty stands out in particular. As the portal writes, every fourth civil claim belongs to Almaty. In absolute terms, this is 122,600 claims. The figure increased by 32.1% compared to the first half of 2025.
In other regions, even in large cities, the number of claims is relatively small. For example, in Shymkent, 44,200 claims were registered, and in Astana – 35,700 claims.
Lowest figures
The regions with the lowest number of civil claims include Ulytau and North Kazakhstan regions.
Overall, the number of people going to court has been increasing since 2020. Over five years, the number of civil claims has doubled.
