On October 7, snow and blowing snow are expected in northern Kazakhstan, ice in several regions, and wind gusts will reach 28 metres per second in places. According to the Kazhydromet forecast, storm warnings are in effect in 17 regions, as well as in Astana and Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Weather across most of the country will continue to be determined by a cyclone and atmospheric fronts. Rain will fall in the west, northwest and centre, while rain and snow are expected in the north, east and the mountains of the southeast.
"Across the republic, wind intensification is expected, in the north with blowing snow, and in the north, east and centre — ice," the forecasters' outlook says.
North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions
In North Kazakhstan region, rain, snow, blowing snow and ice are forecast at night. Wind in the regional centre will reach 15–20 metres per second. Across the region at night, gusts of such strength are expected in the west, north and east, and during the day in the west and south — up to 25 metres per second.
In the north and east of Akmola region, snow and blowing snow are expected at night. Ice is forecast in the region, and fog in the west, north and east at night and in the morning. During the day in these areas, wind gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. Snow, blowing snow, ice and stronger wind are also expected in Kokshetau.
Karaganda and East Kazakhstan regions
In Karaganda region, rain, snow and ice are forecast at night in the north and east. In the west, north and east, fog will descend at night and in the morning, and wind will strengthen to 15–20 metres per second. In Karaganda, rain and snow are expected at night, icy roads during the day, and gusty wind.
In the west, north and east of East Kazakhstan region, rain and snow will fall, with ice possible. In the north, fog is expected at night and in the morning. Wind will strengthen in places to 23–28 metres per second. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, gusts will reach 15–18 metres per second.
Abai, West Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions

In Kostanay region, strong gusts are forecast in the west, north and east, and in Aktobe region — during the day in the same areas. In Kostanay and Aktobe, daytime wind of up to 15–18 metres per second is expected. At night and in the morning, fog will descend on the west and north of Kostanay region, and on the north and east of Aktobe region.
Atyrau, Pavlodar, Ulytau and Mangystau regions
In Atyrau region, daytime wind gusts in the north and east will reach 25 metres per second in places. In the west, fog is expected at night and in the morning.
In Pavlodar region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning in the south, east and centre, and during the day in the west, south and centre — wind of up to 15–20 metres per second. Fog and strong wind are also expected in Pavlodar.
In the north and east of Ulytau region, fog is expected at night and in the morning, and during the day — wind gusts of up to 15–20 metres per second.
In Mangystau region, rain with thunderstorms will fall in the west, south and centre. In Aktau, such weather is expected at times. In the northwest of the region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning, and in the centre — wind gusts of up to 15–18 metres per second.
Southern and southeastern regions
At night in the north of Almaty region, in the north and east of Kyzylorda region, and in the mountains of Turkestan region, frosts down to 1 degree are expected on the soil surface. In the north of Zhetisu region and in the mountains of Zhambyl region, the temperature will drop to 2 degrees below zero.
In the mountains of Turkestan and Zhambyl regions, fog and wind of up to 15–20 metres per second are expected. In Turkestan region, fog is also forecast at night and in the morning in the north.
In Zhetisu region, fog will descend in the mountains at night and in the morning, and in the east, wind gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second.
In the mountains of Almaty region, rain and snow will fall. At night and in the morning, fog is expected in mountain and foothill areas, and in the north and mountains — wind of up to 15 metres per second.
Astana, Almaty and Konaev
In Astana on October 7, fog and icy roads are expected at night and in the morning.
In Almaty and Konaev, fog is forecast at night and in the morning. In the Ile Alatau mountains, including the mountain areas of the Medeu and Bostandyk districts of Almaty, rain and snow will fall at times. At night and in the morning, fog is expected, and easterly wind gusts will reach 15 metres per second.
Fire danger
High fire danger persists in Atyrau region, in the west and centre of Mangystau region, in the south and east of West Kazakhstan region, in the east of Almaty and Aktobe regions, as well as in Zhetisu region. In Kyzylorda region, this level is forecast in the north and centre.
Extreme fire danger is expected in Kyzylorda region, in the west, south and centre of Ulytau and Aktobe regions, as well as in the south of Atyrau region. The warning is also in effect in Kyzylorda, Zhezkazgan and Atyrau. High fire danger persists in Aktau.
