In Kazakhstan, investments in trade and related sectors totaled 637.2 billion tenge in January-July 2026. This is 22.3% more than in the same period last year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Regional investment growth
The highest investment growth rates were recorded in the North Kazakhstan and Karaganda regions, Shymkent, Kostanay region, Abai region, Mangystau region, and Almaty.
Almaty remains the largest investment hub
Almaty remains the largest center of investment activity. Over seven months, the city attracted 204.3 billion tenge. In the Turkistan region, investments amounted to 88.7 billion tenge.
Breakdown by economic activity
By economic activity, the largest share of investments went to wholesale and retail trade — 246.6 billion tenge. Significant amounts were also directed to financial and insurance activities, real estate rental and management, building maintenance, and landscaping.
Ministry's comment
The ministry noted that new investments are aimed at developing trade infrastructure, expanding modern trade formats, and creating additional opportunities for entrepreneurs.
The Ministry of Trade and Integration, together with akimats, continues to work on attracting investments, supporting projects, and developing trade infrastructure.
Earlier on domestic trade growth
Earlier, Kursiv reported that domestic trade growth in Kazakhstan slowed: in January-July 2026, the indicator grew by 5.9% compared to 8.6% a year earlier. Retail trade increased by 4.1%, wholesale trade by 6.7%, while food product sales grew significantly faster than non-food products.
