Kazakhstan is set to undertake the systemic development of sanatorium-resort treatment as an important part of the national healthcare system. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
As noted by the Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova, the new Resort Council will work on innovative therapy methods to attract medical tourists.
According to the ministry, at the international forum 'Shypazhai-2026' in Almaty, the creation of a Resort Council in the republic was announced.
The council is expected to unite representatives of government bodies, science, and healthcare. It was noted that this platform will be used to work on various proposals for the development of the sanatorium-resort industry.
'Sanatorium-resort treatment today transforms medical tourism, combining classical treatment with high-tech medicine, personalized Check-up programs, modern diagnostics, and digital solutions,' Alnazarova said in her speech.
According to her, the new council is expected to form a unified professional approach to the further development of Kazakhstan's sanatorium-resort industry.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the influx of foreign patients to Kazakhstani hospitals reached 80,000 people last year. Given the growing demand, the Ministry of Health, together with the Ministry of Tourism, prepared a plan for the development of medical tourism until 2028.
Back in 2025, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the Ministry of Health to develop agreements with neighboring countries so that tourists from neighboring countries would come to Kazakhstan for treatment. He then noted that the republic is interested in developing cooperation, exchanging experience, and transferring medical technologies.
