In the first half of 2026, the crime rate in Kazakhstan decreased by 10%. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the expanded board meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the decline was observed in all major categories of crime. Preventive measures led to a reduction in crimes committed by previously convicted persons, minors, individuals under the influence of alcohol, as well as in public places and domestic sphere.
Systematic preventive work also resulted in a decrease in property crimes. The number of thefts fell by 16.4%, and livestock theft by 15.8%.
Minister Yerzhan Sadenov emphasized the need to further improve the efficiency of internal affairs bodies. Heads were assigned personal responsibility for work results, and were tasked with promptly eliminating identified shortcomings and improving management efficiency.
