In July, prices for used passenger cars in Kazakhstan fell by 3.8% compared to June. This was the largest monthly decline since records began in January 2016. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a similar 3.8% drop was also recorded in June 2024.
Used cars are getting cheaper
Used cars have become cheaper in seven of the last nine months. On average, prices on the secondary market fell by about 1.4% per month during this period.
On an annual basis, the trend also remains negative. Compared to July 2025, prices for used passenger cars fell by 7%.
New cars are also getting cheaper
New passenger cars are also getting cheaper. According to the Bureau of National Statistics, their prices have been declining for the tenth consecutive month. In July, prices fell by another 1% compared to June.
On an annual basis, new cars have become significantly cheaper than used ones. Compared to July 2025, their prices dropped by 12.2%.
Market participants' opinion
At the same time, representatives of the automotive market note that the actual situation may differ from official statistics. According to their observations, prices for used cars remain relatively high, while new cars are indeed getting cheaper.
Experts also admit that gray imports may affect the statistics of the secondary market. The category of used cars may include actually new cars that are unofficially imported from China and then resold in Kazakhstan.
