This was announced by the Ministry of Health on World Mental Health Day, which is marked on October 10.

Primary care network

There are 101 primary centers and 203 offices operating on the basis of medical organizations. They allow patients to receive specialized care at their place of residence, including in polyclinics. By the end of the year, the ministry plans to open six more primary centers.

The mental health care system is developing with a focus on early detection of diseases, outpatient treatment and rehabilitation. In the first six months of the year, 874,398 outpatient service visits were registered.

Rehabilitation for addiction

Rehabilitation units for patients with substance dependence operate in all 20 regions of Kazakhstan. Coverage of rehabilitation after voluntary treatment increased from 27% in 2023 to 50% in 2025.

Accessibility of treatment without round-the-clock hospitalization is also increasing. In 2026, the number of day-care psychiatric beds increased by 3.7%.

The Ministry of Health reported that the country is improving early detection of autism spectrum disorders and medical support for children. As of October 1, 21,335 people with ASD were under dynamic observation, of whom 20,777 were children.

In 2025, 2,150 medical workers completed training on mental health issues. Modern approaches to early diagnosis and patient support are being introduced in primary health care organizations.

Plans

The ministry intends to continue expanding the network of centers, developing child psychiatric care and improving rehabilitation programs. The goal is to ensure accessibility of care at all stages: from prevention and early detection to treatment and rehabilitation.
