The average accrued salary of plastic surgeons in Kazakhstan was 2.1 million tenge per month. Among more than 180 medical specialties, only maxillofacial surgeons earned more — 2.4 million tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The calculations are based on a sample survey of healthcare and social service enterprises conducted in April 2026. It included all large enterprises, as well as some medium and small ones. Small business enterprises did not participate in the survey.

Plastic and maxillofacial surgeons were the only medical specialties in the report with an average salary above 2 million tenge per month. Cytopathologists took third place — 1.3 million tenge.

The top ten also included emergency and disaster medicine doctors, combustiologists, cardiologists, X-ray surgeons, cardiac surgeons, and vascular surgeons. Their average salaries ranged from 729 thousand to 864 thousand tenge.

At the same time, the position of specialties in the ranking largely depends on the sample composition. The larger the staff of an enterprise, the smaller the share of employees included in the survey. For example, in organizations with 5 thousand people, every hundredth employee is surveyed.

According to Data Hub, sample characteristics may explain significant changes compared to last year. In 2025, the ranking was led by cardiac surgeons with an average salary of about 1 million tenge. Plastic and maxillofacial surgeons were not even in the top hundred then: their average accruals did not exceed 500 thousand tenge per month.
