Two new electric vehicles from Chinese brand Nordcross have received type approval (OTTS) in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing "Chinese Cars" publication.

The documents allow mass sales of the vehicles in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan.

The electric cars are based on the Lotus Eletre and Lotus Emeya models. The certificates will be valid until July 2029.

In the documents, the vehicles are listed as Nordcross NSS01 and Nordcross NSN01, but they are expected to be marketed as Nordcross S01 and Nordcross N01.

The Nordcross S01 is a full-size crossover with a length of 5103 mm and a four- or five-seat cabin. Buyers will be offered two versions: with two electric motors producing 612 hp or with three motors producing 918 hp. A 112 kWh battery provides a range of 490–530 kilometers.

The Nordcross N01 is a large liftback with a length of 5139 mm. It is also available in four- and five-seat configurations and is equipped with powertrains producing 612 or 918 hp. A 102 kWh battery allows a range of 480–525 kilometers on a single charge.

Although the certification was completed in Kazakhstan, the new models are likely to go on sale only in Russia. The Nordcross project was originally designed for the Russian market.

The brand is currently represented by the Nordcross 001 crossover based on the Lynk & Co 09. In Russia, it costs 7.13 million rubles (about 43.56 million tenge). For comparison, the official Lynk & Co 09 in Kazakhstan sells for 25.69–28.49 million tenge.

The Nordcross brand is based on the Chinese enterprise Heilongjiang North Special Purpose Vehicle, which plans to expand its model lineup to five vehicles.

Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported that Russians are switching to electric vehicles and hybrids due to gasoline problems.
