Kazakhstan recorded five forest fires on June 28, all of which were extinguished in a short time. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the fires occurred in Akmola and Almaty regions, as well as in the state forest nature reserves "Semey Ormany" and "Ertis Ormany."

"The fire sources were promptly detected using the early fire detection system and quickly localized. Thanks to the coordinated work of forest guards and specialists from the Republican State Enterprise 'Kazavialesookhrana,' the spread of fire was prevented, and all fires were extinguished in the shortest possible time," the ministry's statement said.

The main cause of most fires, according to the Ministry of Ecology, was lightning discharges.

Citizens were urged to strictly follow fire safety rules and take care of the country's forest resources.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that three forest fires broke out in Kazakhstan the previous day, as stated by the Ministry of Ecology.

Earlier, Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Nurkhen Sharbiev shared alarming statistics: since the beginning of 2026, 87 fires have occurred in state forest funds in Kazakhstan. This is the highest figure in the last three years.

He named lightning discharges as the main cause of fires, as they are impossible to predict. Another common cause is the transfer of fire from forest fires.
