The Ministry of Labor has launched a pilot project that changes the approach to issuing technical rehabilitation aids (TRA) for people with disabilities. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
For now, the new approach is being tested in three regions — Aktobe, Karaganda, and Pavlodar. Its main goal is to ensure that Kazakh citizens are not left helpless during equipment breakdowns.
The new service model provides that in case of a TRA breakdown, people will not have to remain without the necessary device during the repair period. Specifically, a person will immediately be provided with a temporary rehabilitation device from a branch of the National Scientific Center.
For children who grow quickly, early issuance of TRA is provided to ensure continuity of the rehabilitation process.
"All stages of the life cycle of technical rehabilitation aids — from issuance to return, repair, sanitary treatment, and re-provision — will be carried out in digital format, ensuring transparency of processes, timely service maintenance, and quality control of services," the Ministry of Labor explained.
The ministry also reported that the pilot project will be implemented in stages. First, the new service model will cover all types of wheelchairs and walkers, and then the mechanism will be extended to other types of technical aids. The duration of the first stage was not disclosed.
It is noted that citizen participation in the pilot project will be voluntary. Based on the results, an evaluation of the new model's effectiveness is planned.
The ministry also emphasized that the pilot does not change the current procedure for providing rehabilitation technical aids. All rights of people with disabilities provided for by law are fully preserved.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the government would launch a pilot project on the use of the digital tenge in the social sphere. The new technology will be tested when providing people with disabilities with technical rehabilitation aids.
