Kazakhstan is modernizing its National Education Database and creating a unified digital platform on its basis. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The platform is expected to simplify access to public services and reduce budget expenditures, the government said.
The project's implementation was discussed at a meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlibek Nalibayev.
The Minister of Education and the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhtelecom reported on the modernization of the current system and the creation of the National Education Platform. Deputy akims of Shymkent, Turkistan, Aktobe, and Almaty regions also reported on the digitalization of educational institutions in the regions.
The updated system has already made it possible to fully move applications for first grade online. More than 490,000 applications were submitted through it.
Admission to technical, vocational, and post-secondary education organizations has also been automated. With the help of the system, more than 220,000 applicants were admitted to colleges.
"The introduction of the National Education Platform will not only ensure the automation of public services in the field of education, but will also significantly reduce budget expenditures, directing the freed-up funds to other needs of the education system," Nalibayev noted.
