In Kazakhstan, school uniforms have risen in price by 15–17% over the year, significantly outpacing other goods. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the authors of the PROTENGE Telegram channel, the price of school uniforms increased by 15–17% over the year, while non-food goods overall rose by 11.7%.
According to OLX Kazakhstan, in July 2026, a new set of school uniforms for a primary or middle school student cost from 18,000 to 30,000 tenge, depending on the brand and configuration. On the secondary market, such a set could be found for 6,000–12,000 tenge.
Overall, the price of school uniforms increased by 15–17%. This is 5–7 percentage points higher than the annual inflation rate of 10.2%. The rise in uniform prices also outpaced other non-food goods in general. Their cost increased by 11.7%.
Thus, the price of clothing for schoolchildren is increasing a third faster than the cost of other goods.
Earlier, a resident of Astana told Kursiv that preparing a first-grader for school cost her 150,000 tenge for uniforms and stationery.
