Kazakhstan is preparing a bill titled "On the Professional Status and Guarantees of Activity of Medical Workers." Issues of legal and social protection for medics were discussed on October 2 in Astana at a roundtable. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The event, titled "The Professional Status of a Medical Worker as a Factor of National Security," was held on the initiative of deputy Dana Medeuova. This was reported by the press service of the Kurultai.

Participants in the discussion

The discussion was attended by deputies, presidential adviser on social issues Alexey Tsoi, vice ministers, representatives of authorized state bodies, medical organizations and universities, as well as experts and the professional community.

Participants reviewed issues of raising the prestige of the medical profession and strengthening the human resources potential of healthcare, alongside the legal and social protection of workers.

The deputy's position

"In the parliamentary inquiry voiced this week, we raised the issue of the professional status of a doctor as a condition of biological and national security," Medeuova noted.

According to her, constructive proposals from state bodies, medical organizations, universities and the professional community will be taken into account when preparing the bill. The deputy emphasized the need to ensure the practical effectiveness of the decisions taken.

Representatives of authorized state bodies supported the parliamentary initiative. Participants exchanged views on the key provisions of the bill and the mechanisms for their implementation.

The proposals and recommendations received will be summarized and taken into account in further work on the document.

Previous initiative on telemedicine

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Kazakhstan is preparing amendments clarifying the conditions for the use of telemedicine. According to deputy Askhat Aimagambetov, they should determine the distribution of responsibility between the treating physician and the remotely consulting specialist, as well as the procedure for maintaining medical documentation and making treatment decisions.
