In Kazakhstan, in the second quarter of 2026, the median salary amounted to 348,415 tenge ($760). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The median salary is an indicator that divides the income of all hired workers into two equal parts. That is, 50% of workers receive above this amount, and the remaining 50% receive below, the agency explained.
In annual terms, real wages decreased by 1.8%. Compared to the first quarter of 2026, i.e. January-March, real wages increased by 3%.
According to the agency, the average monthly nominal salary amounted to 486,388 tenge, up 8.4% compared to the same period in 2025.
Regional growth in nominal wages
The highest growth in nominal wages compared to last year was recorded in:
- 01Akmola region – 10.7%;
- 02Abai region – 10.6%;
- 03Almaty city – 10.2%;
- 04North Kazakhstan region – 9.5%;
- 05Pavlodar region and Shymkent – 9.4%.
Highest and lowest average wages
The highest average wage was registered in Mangystau region – 673,656 tenge. It is followed by Astana (647,920 tenge) and Atyrau region (631,555 tenge). In Almaty, this figure amounted to 610,371 tenge.
The lowest average wage was recorded in North Kazakhstan region – 363,123 tenge.
