In 2026, Kazakhstan has allocated more than 300 billion tenge for concessional long-term and short-term lending to livestock farming. The funds will be used to increase production volumes, improve farm productivity, and support agricultural producers. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Additionally, under the Comprehensive Plan for Veterinary Development for 2026–2030, 66 billion tenge is allocated for the construction and modernization of veterinary infrastructure, equipping laboratories with modern equipment, updating specialized transport, and strengthening the material and technical base. Another 22 billion tenge will be directed to increasing salaries of veterinary specialists and developing the sector's human resources.
The state support measures were announced in Astana at a ceremonial event dedicated to the Day of Veterinary Service and Livestock Industry Workers.
On behalf of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, participants were congratulated by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin.
"Livestock farming is one of the key sectors of agriculture and plays an important role in ensuring the country's food security. By order of the Head of State, the Government has approved Comprehensive Plans for the Development of Livestock and Veterinary for the next five years. They will become the basis for qualitative modernization of the sector, increasing its efficiency and competitiveness," Zhumangarin noted.
According to him, the state will continue to create conditions for the introduction of modern technologies, development of export potential, expansion of sales markets, and improvement of the welfare of agricultural workers.
Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov reported that in 2025, the gross output of the livestock sector reached 3.8 trillion tenge, an increase of 3.3%.
"This year we are honoring specialists from two sectors together, and this is symbolic. After all, modern livestock farming and a strong veterinary service are inseparable. Together you form one of the most important sectors of Kazakhstan's economy. In 2025, the gross output of the livestock sector reached 3.8 trillion tenge, an increase of 3.3%. The Comprehensive Plan for Livestock Development for 2026–2030 provides for qualitative modernization of the sector, production growth, and increased efficiency of state support. This year, more than 300 billion tenge has been allocated for the development of the sector," Saparov stated.
Under the Comprehensive Plan for Livestock Development, concessional lending programs "Igilik," "Bereke," and "Zhaylau" have already been launched. They provide financing for the purchase of breeding stock, replenishment of working capital for farms, and development of pasture infrastructure.
At the end of the event, the best workers in the industry were awarded state and departmental awards.
