Minister of Industry and Construction Ersayin Nagaspayev spoke about the projects to be launched following the president's visit to Shanghai. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Currently, 11 enterprises operate in Kazakhstan producing passenger cars, buses, trucks, and special equipment. Last year, two major plants were opened: KIA Qazaqstan and Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan.
During Tokayev's visit to China, a number of important agreements were signed in the automotive industry. "In particular, the production of Li Auto, OMODA and JAECOO brand cars, the production of SITRAK unmanned trucks, and the development of a network of high-speed charging stations together with BYD are planned," Nagaspayev said at today's government meeting.
According to official data, over 171,000 vehicles were produced in Kazakhstan last year. In the first six months of this year, 94,400 vehicles were produced, which is 35% more than last year. The plan for this year is to increase production by 11% and produce 190,000 vehicles.
