Rice production and exports have increased in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the National Statistics Bureau, 145,000 tonnes of rice were produced in Kazakhstan in January-August 2026. This is 18.6% more compared to the same period in 2025.
Domestic market sales
In January-July 2026, domestic rice sales amounted to 70,500 tonnes. This is 3.9% more compared to the same period in 2025.
Export figures
In January-July 2026, rice exports increased by 25.3% compared to the same period in 2025. Deliveries to foreign markets rose from 70,900 tonnes to 88,800 tonnes. At the same time, the export value remained at 24.7 million US dollars.
The main export destinations are Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Import figures
Rice export volumes in January-July 2026 exceeded import volumes by 18 times. In January-July 2026, rice imports decreased by 70.7% compared to the same period in 2025.
Import deliveries fell from 16,700 tonnes to 4,900 tonnes, while their value dropped from 9.0 million US dollars to 3.3 million US dollars.
The main supplier countries include India, Russia, Pakistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
