Over the past three academic years, the number of college students in Kazakhstan has increased from 542,700 to 556,200. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
At a government meeting on the development of technical and vocational, post-secondary education, Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova presented these figures. According to her, state support for the technical and vocational education system has significantly strengthened over the past three academic years.
"The state educational order has increased by 48,400 places. As a result, the number of college students increased from 542,700 to 556,200," said Suleimenova.
Positive trends are also observed in personnel training indicators. Over the past three years, the number of graduates has increased by approximately 20%. Among them, the number of graduates with working qualifications increased by 26.5%, and mid-level specialists by 17%.
The minister noted that work will continue on updating college educational programs, updating the classifier for training personnel in accordance with labor market demands, and introducing modern approaches to specialist training.
Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Aida Balayeva instructed to regularly update educational programs in line with labor market needs, strengthen ties between colleges and employers, and further expand the dual education system.
