The decline in prices for socially significant food products continues in Kazakhstan. As of September 9, 2026, in the reporting week, a decrease in prices for a number of socially significant food products was observed in the country. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During the week, prices fell for potatoes (-6.9%), onions (-5.9%), white cabbage (-5.1%), carrots (-4.5%), apples (-0.8%), bread (-0.4%) and cheese (-0.3%).
In the reporting week, prices for first-grade wheat flour, pasta, milk and cottage cheese remained unchanged.
Deflationary dynamics in the regions
In the regional breakdown, deflationary dynamics were observed in a number of cities across the country. Over the week, the overall level of prices for socially significant food products decreased by 0.1% in the cities of Astana, Atyrau, Zhezkazgan, Kyzylorda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey and Turkistan.
In the cities of Almaty, Aktobe, Karaganda, Kostanay and Taraz, prices remained at the level of the previous week.
Average prices
Nationwide, the average price of onions was 156 tenge per kilogram. At the same time, the lowest price was recorded in the city of Pavlodar – 123 tenge per kilogram.
The average price of carrots across the country was 227 tenge per kilogram. The lowest price was recorded in the city of Pavlodar – 146 tenge per kilogram.
The average price of potatoes across the republic was 217 tenge per kilogram. The most affordable prices were recorded in the city of Pavlodar – 152 tenge and in the city of Kostanay – 184 tenge.
The average price of tomatoes across the republic was 586 tenge per kilogram. The lowest price was recorded in the city of Taraz – 347 tenge per kilogram.
