Kazakhstan's domestic trade is showing steady growth, the National Statistics Bureau reported. According to the results of January-May 2026, a stable positive dynamics was maintained in the domestic trade sector of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The real volume index of the "Trade" sector amounted to 105.6% compared to the same period last year, the statement said. According to statisticians, during the reporting period, the volume of wholesale trade reached 19.6 trillion tenge, an increase of 6.5% compared to the same period last year. This indicator made a significant contribution to the growth of trade activity and the strengthening of economic activity in the country.
A positive trend continues in the retail trade sector as well. In the first five months of 2026, the volume of retail trade amounted to 9 trillion tenge, increasing in real terms by 3.6%.
The leading regions in terms of trade volume include the cities of Almaty (share in total volume – 34.5%) and Astana (13.9%), as well as Atyrau (11.5%) and Karaganda (6.1%) regions and the city of Shymkent (5%).
