Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin has issued an instruction in connection with the rise in meat prices. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to official data, over the past week, tomatoes (-15.1%), cucumbers (-18.2%), carrots (-5.2%) and eggs (-2.4%) have significantly fallen in price. However, prices for lamb (2%), horse meat (1.3%) and minced meat (0.6%) increased.
In this regard, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin ordered a detailed analysis of the market for meat and meat products, taking into account production volumes, domestic consumption and export supplies, to determine the government's further actions.
"For each case of a significant price increase, it is necessary to analyze the entire supply chain and eliminate the cause of the rise in price. I instruct the relevant ministries and akimats to hold meetings with large wholesale suppliers and importers, identify existing barriers and develop necessary state support measures with the mandatory adoption of counter-obligations to ensure price stability," Zhumangarin said at a special meeting.
In the future, measures will be taken to contain prices for socially significant food products. They include: introduction of a reduced tariff for electricity for 40 enterprises of the baking industry; provision of a 70% discount on railway transportation of socially significant food products within the country. Akimats should monitor the results of these benefits and prevent unjustified price increases.
In addition, by the end of the year, it is planned to commission three vegetable oil refining plants. This will increase the volume of sunflower oil on the domestic market.
