Kazakhstan has strengthened the supervisory functions of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Control Committee (MPCC), which immediately impacted statistics. In the first six months of 2026, the agency conducted over 1,000 unscheduled and comprehensive inspections. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Specifically, the number of inspections in the provision of medical services increased by 21.7% (from 769 to 936). In the circulation of medicines and medical devices, inspections rose by 56% – from 117 to 182.
Additionally, according to MPCC head Bauyrzhan Dzhussipov, nine investigations into maternal deaths were conducted in the first six months of the year, 28 healthcare facilities were inspected, 12 entities were brought to administrative responsibility, and 18 recommendations were issued to eliminate violations.
He emphasized that the agency continues to monitor the activities of the narcology service and inspect organizations providing plastic surgery services.
In turn, Minister of Healthcare Akmaral Alnazarova stated that the main goal of state control is not only to identify violations but also to prevent them, eliminate causes, and increase the responsibility of medical organizations.
She recalled that last year the country strengthened state oversight of medical organizations operating without the necessary permits. And from 2027, a similar approach is planned to be implemented in the circulation of medicines and medical devices.
Kursiv reported that the Ministry of Healthcare tightened licensing requirements for medical activities in Kazakhstan. Now all clinics in the country can only operate if they have a medical digital system (MDS) integrated with the National Electronic Health Passport and the risk management system.
