The number of light electric vehicles in Kazakhstan is steadily growing, the Bureau of National Statistics reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

As of June 1, 2026, 24,634 light electric vehicles were registered in Kazakhstan. A year earlier, 15,835 electric cars were registered in the country. Thus, the number of electric vehicles increased by 55% in one year.

The largest number of electric cars is registered in Almaty. The city accounts for 62% of all electric vehicles in the country – 15,280 units. The top three regions also include Astana (2,885 units) and Almaty region (1,589 units).

Electric vehicles are registered in all regions of Kazakhstan, but the distribution across regions is uneven. The lowest figures are recorded in Abai region – 78 units and in Ulytau region – 41 units.
