According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 68 people have died since the start of the swimming season, 24 of them children. Thanks to the prompt actions of rescuers, 90 people, including 23 children, were saved.
Prosecutors, together with internal affairs and emergency authorities, are conducting raids at mass recreation areas on water bodies. "Citizens are repeatedly warned about the dangers of swimming in unapproved places. Such places have no rescue stations, and the bottom has not been checked. Therefore, in the event of an emergency, timely assistance may be impossible," prosecutors said.
Those who perform work or provide services that do not meet safety requirements, if harm is caused to human health, will pay a fine of 5,000 monthly calculation indices or face up to five years in prison. Parents who neglect the safety of their children are held administratively liable. They may be fined up to 10 monthly calculation indices or subjected to administrative arrest for up to 10 days.
