This weekend — June 20 and 21 — the weather in Kazakhstan will sharply worsen. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to forecasts from Kazhydromet, atmospheric fronts bringing rain, thunderstorms and strong winds will cover the country, while extreme heat will persist — locally up to +42 degrees.

According to weather forecasters, short-term rains with thunderstorms will occur over most of the territory, with hail possible in places. Storm warnings have been issued in most regions.

Heavy precipitation is expected in western and southeastern regions, and squally winds with gusts of 15–23 m/s in western and southern regions. In the north and northwest, fog is possible in places at night and in the morning.

Despite the unstable weather, temperatures will continue to rise. In most regions, the air will warm up to +30…+38 degrees. In the north, northwest and center of the country, a peak of up to +40…+41 degrees is expected.

In Mangystau region, the temperature will rise to +42 degrees, in Kyzylorda region — around +40.

Even in regions with rain, the heat will not completely subside, creating sharp temperature contrasts and increasing the load on the atmosphere.

Against the background of heat and wind, the country maintains a high, and in places extreme, fire danger. The situation is aggravated by dry thunderstorms and gusty winds, which can quickly spread fires.

In western, central and eastern regions, a combination of heat up to +35…+38 degrees with thunderstorm rains and gusty winds is expected. In Aktobe, Atyrau, Kyzylorda and Mangystau regions, the highest temperatures are forecast — up to +40…+42 degrees.

In the north and northwest of the country, heat up to +35…+38 degrees will be accompanied by thunderstorms, fog and strengthening winds. In Karaganda region and Ulytau region, heat may intensify locally to +40…+41 degrees.

In southern and southeastern regions, including Zhetysu, Almaty, Zhambyl and Turkestan regions, rain, thunderstorms, and in mountainous areas heavy precipitation with hail and squalls are expected. Wind will strengthen locally to 23 m/s, while hot weather up to +35…+38 degrees will persist.

Earlier, weather forecasters named the regions of Kazakhstan where it will sharply get colder. And in July, Kazhydromet promised Kazakhstani frosts and heat under 50 degrees.
