Storm Warning Issued in Kazakhstan: Heavy Rains and Heat Expected

On July 21, weather in Kazakhstan will sharply deteriorate. According to Kazhydromet, a northwestern cyclone will bring rain with thunderstorms, heavy downpours, hail, squally wind, and dust storms to most of the country. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

A storm warning has been issued across the republic.

In the north, center, and south, heavy rain with thunderstorms and hail is expected. Wind will strengthen almost throughout the country, and dust storms are possible in southern and southwestern regions. At night and in the morning, fog is forecast in some northern areas.

At the same time, the heat will not subside. Air temperatures will reach +35°C in Atyrau region and in the west and south of West Kazakhstan region. In Almaty, East Kazakhstan, and Abay regions, temperatures of +35…+38°C are expected, in Zhetysu region up to +39°C, in Mangystau region up to +38°C. The highest temperature is forecast in the south of East Kazakhstan region and Abay region — up to +41°C.

Meteorologists also warn of high and extreme fire danger in several regions. The most difficult situation is expected in Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Zhambyl regions, Zhetysu region, as well as in some areas of Karaganda, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Aktobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Mangystau regions, Ulytau and Abay regions.

The heaviest precipitation is expected in Akmola, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Abay, and Ulytau regions. Heavy downpours, hail, squalls, and wind gusts up to 23–28 meters per second are forecast here.

In Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Petropavlovsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Aktobe, Zhezkazgan, Taraz, Shymkent, and a number of other cities, rain with thunderstorms, occasional hail, and strengthening wind are also expected.

In the south and southwest of the country, weather conditions will be contrasting: in Kyzylorda, Turkestan, and Mangystau regions, along with heat, strong wind and dust storms are forecast.
