Over the past day, on September 5, three forest fires were registered in Kazakhstan — in Akmola, Almaty and North Kazakhstan regions. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Forestry workers and a helicopter of the Republican State Enterprise "Kazavialesookhrana" with a water-discharge device are fighting the fire.
"Due to thunderstorm fronts persisting in a number of regions and abnormally hot weather, the fire danger remains high. The State Forest Protection and Kazavialesookhrana are operating in an enhanced mode, and aerial and ground patrols continue," the Ministry of Ecology reported.
The day before, Kursiv reported that in the Enbekshikazakh district of the Almaty region, about 20 kilometers from the village of Nurly, near the Ili River, dry grass and reeds caught fire. The work of firefighters was complicated by swampy and hard-to-reach terrain.
Causes of high fire danger
According to ministry specialists, the high level of fire danger is caused by thunderstorm fronts and abnormally hot weather that persist in a number of regions. These factors create a particularly dangerous situation in forest areas.
