A number of socially significant food products have become cheaper in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics, over the week, potatoes fell by 4.2%, white cabbage by 1.2%, apples by 1.1%, onions and carrots by 1%.

Also, prices for hard and semi-hard cheeses decreased by 0.3%, cottage cheese with 5-9% fat content and salt by 0.2%, first-grade wheat flour and sour cream by 0.1%.

Prices for wheat bread made from first-grade flour, horns, beef on the bone, boneless beef, horse meat, pasteurized, ultra-pasteurized and sterilized milk with fat content from 2.2% to 6%, eggs and butter remained unchanged during the reporting week.

In the regional context, deflationary dynamics were observed in a number of cities of the country. The total price for socially significant food products decreased over the week in Taldykorgan by 0.7%, in Aktau and Zhezkazgan by 0.4% each, in Petropavlovsk by 0.3%, in Astana by 0.2%, in Karaganda, Kostanay, Uralsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Pavlodar by 0.1%.

In Almaty, Turkistan, Aktobe, Semey and Taraz, prices remained at the level of the previous week, the message says.

The average price for potatoes in the republic was 259 tenge per kilogram, the lowest price was recorded in Pavlodar - 191 tenge per kilogram. The average price for white cabbage in the republic was 189 tenge per kilogram. The lowest prices were recorded in Turkistan - 142 tenge, in Taraz - 152 tenge.

The average price for apples was 797 tenge per kilogram. The lowest price was recorded in Shymkent - 639 tenge.

Among meat products, the average price for beef on the bone in the republic was 3,779 tenge per kilogram, the price for chicken was 1,736 tenge.
