In Q1 2026, the number of employed in several key sectors of Kazakhstan's economy increased. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Compared to the same period last year, growth was observed in industry, construction, education, as well as health care and social services.
The largest share of employed remains in wholesale and retail trade, as well as repair of cars and motorcycles. This sector employs 1,571.4 thousand people, accounting for 16.7% of the total employed population.
The education sector employs 1,251.0 thousand people, which is 0.5% more than in Q1 2025.
The number of workers in industry reached 1,185.7 thousand people, an increase of 2.0%. Among them, mining and quarrying employs 298.3 thousand people, up 3.4% from Q1 2025.
According to statistics specialists, employment also grew in construction, reaching 643.8 thousand people. Manufacturing employs 624.8 thousand people, health care and social services – 616.7 thousand people. Transport and storage employs 663.2 thousand people.
