In the first half of 2026, Kazakhstan suppressed more than 3,200 violations of fisheries legislation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Most violations were related to illegal fishing, pollution of water bodies, violation of navigation rules, and illegal transportation of aquatic biological resources. As a result of inspections, 2,639 citizens were brought to administrative responsibility. The total amount of administrative fines imposed was 68.3 million tenge.
In addition, more than 30 materials were sent to law enforcement agencies regarding 48 individuals, and 31 criminal cases were initiated, the ministry reported.
Employees of the Ural-Caspian Basin Fisheries Inspectorate, together with the Border Service and law enforcement agencies, suppressed 1,239 offenses. As a result, 936 people were held accountable, and administrative fines totaling 25.8 million tenge were imposed.
During the campaign, 33 criminal cases were initiated on facts of poaching and illegal encroachment on rare and endangered fish species, the message says.
From illegal circulation, 8.5 tons of fish (including 1.2 tons of sturgeon), 10.7 kg of sturgeon caviar, and 134 fishing gear were seized.
