Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed that deputies of the Kurultai consider a draft law banning registration on social networks for children under 16 years old. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Today, the president focused on this issue at the August conference. The reason is that today social networks, digital platforms, artificial intelligence and aggressive marketing influence children's worldview no less than family and school.
President's proposal
"The government has developed a draft law banning registration on social networks for users under 16 years old. At the opening of the first session of the Kurultai, I propose that deputies consider this issue. Many advanced countries have adopted similar measures. I think it's time for us to stop fighting the consequences of the threat to children's psychological state and start preventing it. Otherwise, it will negatively affect the stability of society," Tokayev said.
Mandatory SIM cards
According to the president, the government should take measures to filter content to protect children. "Therefore, I instruct to widely spread the practice of introducing mandatory SIM cards for children. This can ensure their information immunity," the president said.
