The Government of Kazakhstan reported that over the three weeks of July, the average price index for socially significant food products decreased by 0.1%. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Trade, over the past week, tomatoes fell by 15.1%, cucumbers by 18.2%, carrots by 5.2%, and eggs by 2.4%. At the same time, prices for certain types of meat products continue to rise: lamb – 2%, horse meat – 1.3%, and minced meat – 0.6%.
In this regard, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin instructed to conduct a detailed analysis of the meat and meat products market, taking into account production volumes, domestic consumption, and export supplies to determine further government actions. Zhumangarin also instructed state bodies and akimats to strengthen targeted work with market participants.
"For each case of significant price increases, it is necessary to analyze the entire supply chain and eliminate the causes of the rise in prices. I instruct the relevant ministries and akimats to hold meetings with the largest wholesale suppliers and importers, identify existing barriers, and develop necessary state support measures, provided they assume reciprocal obligations to ensure price stability. The same systematic work must be organized for non-food products and paid services, taking into account the specifics of the respective markets. Every state body must ensure the implementation of measures within its competence," Zhumangarin emphasized.
To further stabilize prices, the Government plans to increase support for domestic producers, introduce preferential electricity tariffs for bakeries, and provide a 70% discount on railway transportation of socially significant products within the country.
