Kazakhstan has seen a decline in food prices for the second month in a row. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Trade and Integration, food inflation has decreased for the second consecutive month, with a deflationary trend persisting at 0.1%.
The slowdown in price growth is significantly influenced by socially important food products. Since the beginning of the year, prices for these goods have increased by 1.8%. In the corresponding period last year, the increase was 8.3%. That is, this year the price growth is 4.6 times lower.
Last week, sugar fell in price by 2.4%, onions by 1.7%, apples and carrots by 0.9%, rice by 0.5%, and mutton by 0.4%. Prices for bread, pasta, butter, salt, and tea remained unchanged.
Due to colder weather, the price of cucumbers increased by 4.6%, cabbage and tomatoes by 3.7%, and potatoes by 2.4%.
In order to stabilize prices for greenhouse vegetables in the upcoming winter and spring months, a corresponding memorandum will be signed with producers. One of the effective ways to stabilize prices is agricultural fairs, where producers offer their products directly to consumers.
In addition, from October 17 to 27, the "Bereke Fest" and "Republic Day" campaigns are being held in all regions of the country. As part of the campaigns, buyers are offered everyday goods and in-demand food products at discounts of up to 50%.
During the meeting, Serik Zhumangarin heard reports from the akimats of regions with increased food inflation. He also instructed all regions to increase the number of agricultural fairs and ensure a sufficient volume of staple food products at affordable prices.
