Some drivers in Kazakhstan can use toll roads for free. Emergency services, certain carriers, residents of adjacent areas, and other categories of transport are eligible for benefits. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The list of beneficiaries is established in Article 5-2 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Highways".
Special vehicles performing official tasks can use toll roads free of charge. These include:
- 01ambulances;
- 02fire trucks;
- 03law enforcement vehicles;
- 04vehicles of special state bodies;
- 05emergency services vehicles.
Benefits also apply to certain categories of civilian transport. Among them:
- 01buses performing regular suburban transportation and routes between settlements adjacent to the toll road and district, regional centers, Astana, or cities of republican significance;
- 02vehicles of individuals registered in areas adjacent to the toll road and traveling to settlements along that road;
- 03vehicles of agricultural enterprises located along the toll road;
- 04vehicles of disabled persons living in settlements along the toll road;
- 05vehicles of state agencies using toll roads.
To include a vehicle in the register of beneficiaries, you must provide to KazAvtoZhol:
- 01a copy of the vehicle registration certificate;
- 02a document confirming the right to the benefit (e.g., disability certificate, service ID, etc.);
- 03an application.
It is important to remember that the benefit becomes effective only after the license plate is entered into the information system. Until then, travel on the roads is paid on a general basis.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto wrote that drivers who regularly use toll roads can purchase a monthly or annual subscription and save on travel.
