A storm warning has been issued for most regions of Kazakhstan on June 19 due to a sharp contrast in weather conditions. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Kazhydromet forecasters, atmospheric fronts are passing through the country. Rain with thunderstorms is forecast almost everywhere, with heavy precipitation, hail and squally winds in places. Fog is possible in the northwest and north at night and in the morning.
Intense heat of 35–42 degrees is expected in Atyrau, Mangystau, Akmola, Pavlodar, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan regions, as well as in Abai, Zhetysu, Ulytau regions, in the south of West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Aktobe and Kyzylorda regions.
Against this background, high and extreme fire danger persists in a number of regions — in the central, southern and eastern regions of the country.
In Astana, Akmola, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar regions, rain with thunderstorms, hail in places and wind gusts up to 15–20 m/s are expected. At the same time, intense heat up to 35–38 degrees and high or extreme fire danger persist in some areas.
In West Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Atyrau and Mangystau regions, thunderstorms, hail in places and gusty winds are forecast, against the background of heat up to 38–41 degrees.
In East Kazakhstan region and Abai region, short-term rain with thunderstorms and wind up to 15–20 m/s are expected, air temperature up to 35–38 degrees. High and extreme fire danger persists.
In Almaty region, including mountainous areas and Almaty, short-term rain and thunderstorms will occur, with wind strengthening up to 15–20 m/s in places. Temperatures will rise to 35–38 degrees, high fire danger persists, in some zones — extreme.
In Zhetysu and Zhambyl regions, rain, thunderstorms, heavy precipitation in places, hail and squalls are expected. Wind will increase to 15–23 m/s. High and extreme fire danger persists, temperatures up to 35–38 degrees.
In Kyzylorda region, thunderstorm rain, squalls and intense heat up to 42 degrees are forecast, extreme fire danger persists.
In Turkestan region — thunderstorms, heavy rain in places, hail and squalls, wind gusts up to 23 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists.
In the north of the country, including North Kazakhstan region, thunderstorms, hail and fog are expected at night and in the morning.
Forecasters also warn that on June 20–21, temperatures in some southern and central regions may rise to 40–41 degrees.
Earlier, Kazhydromet published a weather forecast for July 2026. According to forecasters, the second month of summer in Kazakhstan will be contrasting: from frosts to extreme heat of +46°C.
