Kazakhstan is radically changing the format of military service amid global instability. The main army stages from conscription to demobilization will now follow a new state protocol. This was announced by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the XII international military-patriotic youth gathering 'Aibyn'. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The head of state announced a large-scale modernization of army traditions, which will be based on the principle: 'Responsible Citizen – Warrior – Defender of the Fatherland'.
'From now on, the three main stages of military service – conscription, oath-taking, and demobilization – will be held in a new format, solemnly in accordance with state protocol practice. The new ceremony will give these important milestones special significance and symbolism, strengthening the continuity of generations,' Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.
According to the president, the army is undergoing consistent modernization: advanced training standards, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence are being actively introduced into the military education system and the army environment.
The president also noted the achievements of the Shokan Ualikhanov Military College, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. During this time, the educational institution has trained over 4,500 highly qualified specialists of the sergeant corps.
Tokayev paid special attention to the current geopolitical situation in the world, calling on Kazakh citizens to civic responsibility.
'In the modern world, where wars rage, military conflicts flare up, sanctions are imposed on states, and the global situation becomes increasingly unpredictable, indifference to one's own country can lead to severe consequences for ourselves and our citizens,' the head of state stated.
The president reminded that on July 1, the country's Basic Law comes into force, which will launch a large-scale reset of all state and public institutions.
'Such serious transformations have never occurred in the 35-year history of our country. We are talking about Kazakhstan's development towards progress and technological advancement based on quality science,' Tokayev noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that even the most well-calibrated state plans will remain only on paper without public unity and cohesion. The new Constitution, in his words, should become a solid platform for consolidating all constructive forces of society.
The military-patriotic gathering 'Aibyn-2026' is taking place in Shchuchinsk. This year, the event brought together more than 50 teams, including youth representatives from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan. Participants compete in military-sports, intellectual, and military-applied disciplines.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the largest military exercises of five countries started in Kazakhstan.
