Kazakhstan has established a legislative framework for the development of air taxis and unmanned aviation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

On June 24, the president signed the law "On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on digitalization, personal data protection, road traffic and regulation of advanced technologies in transport." This amendment was made to the law "On the use of airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan and aviation activities."

According to the ministry, with this decision, Kazakhstan has legally regulated the urban air mobility (UAM) market and joined the ranks of countries with a developed regulatory framework in the eVTOL sector, alongside the USA, the European Union, South Korea, and China.

The law includes 7 main amendments: - the concept of "advanced air mobility" is introduced, defining its types – urban and interregional air mobility; - a legal basis is established for the use of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) and other aircraft classified under advanced air mobility; - the legal status of vertiports as infrastructure for advanced air mobility is established, and their operational features are defined; - new certification mechanisms are introduced for developers and manufacturers of aviation equipment, urban air mobility operators, and civil remotely piloted aircraft systems; - the legal status of the unmanned air traffic service system is defined. This system digitally controls flights of unmanned aircraft systems, exchanges information, routes, and coordinates airspace use; - requirements for digital infrastructure and cybersecurity serving unmanned air traffic are established; - state regulation mechanisms for civil unmanned aircraft systems are improved, covering registration, operation, certification, and flight organization.
