Kazakhstan is bracing for a new wave of heat on August 9, according to forecasts from Kazhydromet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
In some regions, temperatures will rise to +43 degrees, while rain and thunderstorms are possible in the west, north, and mountainous areas. Storm warnings have been issued in most regions.
Anticyclone Influence
The weather in most regions will be determined by an anticyclone. Warm air masses from the south will bring up to +35…+39 degrees to the north and east, up to +35…+41 to the south, and up to +36…+41 to the west and center.
Hottest Regions
The most intense heat is expected in the Kyzylorda region — up to +40…+43 degrees. In Kyzylorda city, it will be up to +42, with possible dust storms and wind gusts of 15–20 m/s.
Up to +40…+41 degrees is forecast in the Turkistan region, up to +38 in Zhambyl, and up to +35…+39 in Atyrau and Ulytau regions. In Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Akmola, and other northern and western regions, temperatures will locally reach +35…+38 degrees.
Hot in the Southeast
The southeast will also be hot: up to +38 in the Almaty region, around +35 in Almaty, and up to +37 in the Zhetisu region. Brief rains and thunderstorms are possible in the mountains of Almaty and the Almaty region.
Fire Hazard
High or extreme fire danger persists in several regions. In the west and northwest of the country, gusty winds, thunderstorms, and hail are expected in places.
