A large-scale program to reconstruct 124 railway stations is being implemented in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Currently, renovation work has been completed at 72 stations in 17 regions. Station buildings and engineering networks, as well as station areas and waiting rooms, have been renovated.
At the most dilapidated facilities, old buildings were completely demolished and new passenger complexes were built in their place.
According to the government, 34 more stations are planned to be commissioned by the end of August, and work at 15 facilities will be completed by the end of September.
In total, 121 of the 124 stations are planned to be reconstructed in 2026. Three more major facilities – the stations of Astana, Almaty and Turkistan – will be completed in 2027.
They have historical and architectural value, so the work is carried out according to a separate schedule, taking into account the requirements for preserving the original architectural appearance of the buildings, the government reported.
The measures being taken will improve the reliability of railway infrastructure, enhance the quality of services and create comfortable conditions for passengers.
