The winners of 550 grants for foreigners without Kazakh citizenship have been determined. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Under this year's scholarship program, the majority of grants are allocated for bachelor's degrees:

  • 01Bachelor's degree – 490 grants;
  • 02Master's degree – 50 grants;
  • 03Doctoral studies – 10 grants.

16,098 applicants from 71 countries took part in the competitive selection. The largest number of applications came from candidates from Palestine, Indonesia, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.

For the first time, citizens of the USA, Italy, Germany, the Republic of Maldives, and the Republic of Korea are among the scholarship recipients. A significant portion of participants are ethnic Kazakhs without citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan – oralmans.

According to ministry specialists, the implementation of the program for this category of citizens contributes to expanding access to quality education in Kazakhstan and strengthening ties with the historical homeland.

Grant recipients will study at 27 higher education institutions in Kazakhstan, including Kokshetau University named after Sh. Ualikhanov, Astana IT University, Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages.

It should be noted that the program, launched in 2019, is aimed at developing international academic cooperation and attracting talented foreign youth to leading higher education institutions in Kazakhstan.
