Over the past five years, Kazakhstan has built 1,120 schools for more than 1 million student places. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Education, as a result, the number of three-shift schools and the shortage of student places decreased by four times, and the number of emergency schools by two times.
National project "Schools of the Future"
The ministry noted that one of the key projects is the national project "Schools of the Future." Under this project, 217 schools for 460 thousand student places were built across the country, 84 of which are located in rural areas.
"These schools include STEM laboratories, robotics classrooms, coworking spaces, choreography and sports halls," the ministry said.
Educational Infrastructure Support Fund
Through the Educational Infrastructure Support Fund, established in 2023, construction of 90 facilities for nearly 100 thousand student places was financed. Of these, 83 have been commissioned, and seven more are planned to be opened by the end of the year.
Future plans
In the next three years, another 1,300 schools are planned to be renovated, 820 of which are located in rural areas. In 2026, another 101 schools for about 60 thousand student places are planned to be built.
The main goal is to systematically solve the shortage of student places and create equal conditions for modern education for children in cities and villages.
