Kazakhstan has prepared more than 38.7 million tonnes of livestock feed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to operational data from regional akimats, agricultural producers have prepared 38.7 million tonnes of all types of feed, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

This amounts to 93.7% of the volume planned for the 2026-2027 wintering period.

What types of feed were prepared

The ministry's statement provides specific figures:

  • 0126.4 million tonnes of hay;
  • 022.3 million tonnes of haylage;
  • 032.3 million tonnes of silage;
  • 044.3 million tonnes of straw;
  • 053.4 million tonnes of compound feed.

"Today, 26.4 million tonnes of hay, 2.3 million tonnes of haylage, 2.3 million tonnes of silage, 4.3 million tonnes of straw and 3.4 million tonnes of compound feed have been prepared," the statement reads.

Hay procurement plan exceeded

According to the ministry, exceeding the hay procurement plan makes it possible to create additional insurance reserves and increase the resilience of livestock farming in the event of adverse weather conditions.

Planned volumes for the wintering period

In total, before the start of the 2026-2027 wintering period, it is planned to prepare:

  • 0125.7 million tonnes of hay;
  • 022.3 million tonnes of haylage;
  • 032.8 million tonnes of silage;
  • 044.8 million tonnes of straw;
  • 055.7 million tonnes of compound feed.

Thus, hay procurement has currently exceeded the plan, while work on other types of feed continues.
