Ahead of the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a national patriotic song contest has been announced. Poets and composers from across the country can compete for the main prize of 6 million tenge. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The main goal of the project is to support talented authors, create new musical works about the Motherland and popularize patriotic songs.

Both professional poets and composers and emerging authors are invited to participate. The main condition is that only works that have not been previously published or performed anywhere are accepted for the contest.

The contest is held in three categories (participants may submit works in one or several of them):

  • 01The first category — patriotic songs;
  • 02The second category — songs about the Motherland;
  • 03The third category — songs reflecting national identity.

The total prize fund of the contest is 30 million tenge, formed from sponsorship funds.

The participants' works will be evaluated by an expert council composed of renowned composers, poets and music experts. Among the main selection criteria are the quality of the music and lyrics, the originality of the creative concept and the emotional response of the audience.

"The contest is intended to support the creation of songs that reflect the spirit of the times, reveal the themes of the Motherland and national identity and resonate with listeners," said Kalkaman Sarin, a member of the expert council and poet.

Applications for participation are accepted until December 5, 2026, on the official website khabar.kz/konkurs.

The names of the winners and the Grand Prix recipient will be announced ahead of Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main information partner of the project is JSC "Khabar Agency".
