Storm warnings have been issued for several regions of Kazakhstan for September 3. Forecasters predict frosts down to -5°C, strong winds, thunderstorms, hail, fog and dust storms. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kazhydromet.

Almaty and Almaty Region

In Almaty, light rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day. In Konayev, extreme fire danger remains.

In Almaty Region, light rain and thunderstorms are expected in the south during the day, and brief rain with thunderstorms in mountainous areas. Fog is forecast at times in the mountains at night and in the morning. Wind is north-easterly, turning south-westerly, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s in mountainous areas during the day. Extreme fire danger persists in the center, west and east of the region.

Shymkent and Turkistan Region

In Shymkent, gusts of north-easterly wind up to 15-20 m/s are expected during the day, and extreme fire danger remains. In Turkistan, wind will also strengthen to 15-20 m/s, and fire danger will remain extreme.

In Turkistan Region, brief rain and thunderstorms are expected in mountainous areas during the day, and dust storms in the west and north. North-easterly wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s in the west, north, mountains and foothills, with gusts possibly reaching 23-28 m/s at times during the day. Extreme fire danger persists across the region.

Zhetysu Region

In mountainous areas of Zhetysu Region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast, with fog at night and in the morning. In the east and mountains, gusts of north-easterly wind will reach 15-20 m/s, and in the Alakol lakes area, occasionally 23-28 m/s. High fire danger persists in the north, and extreme in the south and east.

Western Kazakhstan

In Atyrau Region, including Atyrau city, extreme fire danger remains.

In West Kazakhstan Region, extreme fire danger persists, with high danger in the northwest. In Uralsk, a high fire danger warning is also in effect.

In the west and north of Mangystau Region, extreme fire danger persists, with high danger in the center. In Aktau, fire danger remains extreme.

In Aktobe Region, extreme fire danger persists, with high danger in the northeast. Extreme fire danger is also expected in Aktobe.

Northern and central regions

In Akmola Region, rain and thunderstorms are expected in the west, south and center. Fog is possible at night and in the morning in the west, north and east. In the east of the region, frosts down to -2°C are forecast on the soil surface.

In Ulytau Region, extreme fire danger persists. A similar warning is in effect in Zhezkazgan.

In Karaganda Region, fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west and north. In the southeast, gusts of north-easterly wind will reach 15 m/s. In the east of the region, frosts down to -2°C are forecast at night. High fire danger persists in the center.

In Kostanay Region, rain is forecast in the west, east and south, with thunderstorms and hail possible during the day. Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west and north. High fire danger persists in the northwest, and extreme in the south, southeast and center.

In Pavlodar Region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning in the south, east and center. In the south, frosts down to -1°C are expected at night. Fog is also possible in Pavlodar.

In North Kazakhstan Region, light rain and thunderstorms are expected at night in the west and south, with fog in the west at night and in the morning. Gusts of south-westerly wind in the west and south will reach 15-20 m/s. In the north and east, frosts down to -2°C are forecast on the soil surface.

Eastern Kazakhstan

In East Kazakhstan Region, fog is expected at night and in the morning in the north and east. In the north, east and mountainous areas, frosts down to -5°C are possible at night. In Oskemen, fog is also forecast at night and in the morning.

In Kyzylorda Region, dust storms are expected in the south and center during the day. North-easterly wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists across the region.

In Kyzylorda, a dust storm is also forecast during the day, with gusts of north-easterly wind reaching 15 m/s. Extreme fire danger remains.

Weather outlook for coming days

Earlier, Kursiv reported that from September 3 to 5, warming up to +33°C is expected in Kazakhstan. The cold air mass that affected the weather at the beginning of the month will gradually recede, and dry weather will set in over most of the country.

In the west, northwest and south, daytime temperatures will rise to +28…+33°C, in the north, east and center — to +23…+30°C. In the southeast, +20…+27°C is expected, in mountains and foothills — +10…+15°C.

At the same time, brief rains, thunderstorms and strengthening winds are forecast in places in the northeast, south and southeast.
