This year, the total sown area in Kazakhstan amounted to 23.8 million hectares, the government reported. This is 180 thousand hectares more than last year's figure. In all regions, mandatory agrotechnical work aimed at soil preparation was carried out before the start of mass sowing: moisture conservation, pre-sowing treatment, and spring plowing. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The structure of sowing work by crop is as follows: - grain crops – 14.6 million hectares; - oilseeds – 4.2 million hectares; - fodder crops – 1.2 million hectares; - cotton – 166 thousand hectares; - vegetable crops – 120 thousand hectares; - potatoes – 126 thousand hectares; - melon crops – 84 thousand hectares; - sugar beets – 22 thousand hectares.
The government has introduced a mechanism for early financing of sowing campaigns. This mechanism allows farmers to attract the necessary financial resources in advance, timely purchase seeds, fertilizers, plant protection products and machinery at the most favorable prices, as well as to prepare qualitatively for sowing.
As a result, the dependence of agricultural producers on seasonal price increases is reduced, and the sowing campaign is carried out within optimal agrotechnical timeframes. Applications for spring field work in 2026 began earlier than usual — in October 2025.
In total, in 2026, 750 billion tenge is planned to be allocated for financing spring and autumn field work at 5% per annum.
