Kazakhstan has harvested grain from 1.9 million hectares, or 12.5% of the area. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

At a meeting of the operational headquarters chaired by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, Vice Minister of Agriculture Nazgul Khatipova reported on the progress of the harvesting campaign.

Harvest indicators

According to the Vice Minister, this year the total harvested area is 24.2 million hectares, of which 15.6 million hectares are allocated for grain and leguminous crops. "Today, grain has been harvested from 1.9 million hectares, or 12.5% of the area," she said.

Fuel supply

Regions have been allocated 401 thousand tons of diesel fuel for harvesting operations. For agricultural producers in the main grain-growing regions, the cost of one liter of diesel fuel is 305-310 tenge. To date, 65.8 thousand tons of fuel have been shipped to the regions.

For drying grain and oilseeds, 60 thousand tons of liquefied gas have been preliminarily allocated.

Readiness of grain storage facilities

The meeting paid special attention to the readiness of grain storage facilities. The total storage capacity is 30.7 million tons, with a current load of 2.4 million tons (17%). Given the upcoming harvesting campaign, Serik Zhumangarin instructed the akimats, together with the Food Corporation, to accelerate the work on freeing storage facilities.

"To avoid time pressure during the harvesting campaign, gas and diesel fuel for drying grain and oilseeds must be ready. There should be a sufficient amount of rolling stock, and it is necessary to timely free grain storage facilities for storing products," Serik Zhumangarin noted.

Modernization of sugar factories

The meeting also considered the issue of preparing for sugar beet harvesting in the Zhambyl region and Zhetysu, where four sugar factories are located. Currently, the Koksu sugar factory is being modernized with an increase in capacity from 2 thousand tons to 3 thousand tons per day. At the Taraz sugar factory, commissioning works are underway for a new line for processing sugar beets with a capacity of 3 thousand tons per day.

These works are planned to be completed by October. By 2027, it is planned to increase the capacity of the Aksu factory to 4.5 thousand tons per day, and the Koksu factory to 5 thousand tons.
