Kazakhstan has threshed 18.6 million tonnes of grain, the Ministry of Agriculture reported. To date, 81.5% of the areas sown with grain and leguminous crops have been harvested. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Key indicators of the harvest campaign
The average yield reached 14.6 centners per hectare, with 18.6 million tonnes of grain threshed. Currently, grain and leguminous crops have been harvested from 12.7 million hectares.
The ministry's statement reads: "This year the total sown area in the country reached 24.2 million hectares. This is 600 thousand hectares more than last year. Of this, 15.6 million hectares are sown with grain crops, 5.2 million hectares with oilseeds, and 3 million hectares with fodder crops."
Structure of sown areas
The total sown area reached 24.2 million hectares, which is 600 thousand hectares more than last year. This includes:
- 0115.6 million hectares — grain crops;
- 025.2 million hectares — oilseeds;
- 033 million hectares — fodder crops.
In addition, cotton was sown on 173.6 thousand hectares, and sugar beet on 23.8 thousand hectares.
Grain receiving enterprises
4.9 million tonnes of the new harvest were delivered to licensed grain receiving enterprises. This is 20% more compared to the same period last year. Last year at this time, 4.1 million tonnes of grain had been received, the ministry says.
Harvesting of oilseeds
Along with this, the harvesting of oilseeds is also gaining pace. Currently, 2.2 million hectares have been harvested, yielding 2.2 million tonnes of oilseed produce.
